Writer In Focus: Meet Eva Kristiaman

"For I know the plans I have
for you," says the Lord,
"plans to prosper you
and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope
and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11

Like the classic Batik, her life has been intricately handwoven by God before she was even born.

Literally meaning “living Christian faithful in faith”, Ms. Eva Kristiaman has dedicated her life and her talent in lamenting on the life of Christ and using her golden gift of writing to spread the Good News to her widest possible reach. Her name says it all.

In 1993, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology at Duta Wacana Christian University. She then started devoting her passion and vigor in writing and publishing materials that encompass the love of God to man, and the Promise of Eternal Salvation to those who hold on to Him.

She co-founded and became the Director of Salt and Light of the World Publishing House, which she referred to as the amalgamation of her faith brought to life. Through the challenges she faced at the course of her voyage, she had to endure powerful tidal waves that would have rocked her faith. But it only made her stronger. She knows that she embarked on a journey that would threaten her life, living in a country of different faith, but her unshakeable love of the Lord still overpowers any other element that could take her away from Her Creator.

Even in her own little ways, she still continues her “calling” of being a beacon of hope to lost lambs so that they may find her way home, through every stroke of her ink.

In August 1, 2012, day of the Lord, she joins the illustrious roster of top Christian writers after winning a place in the Littworld International Essay Competition for her compelling entry, May I Come In.

In an unexpected twist of faith, God connected us on a blessed Friday afternoon and had a chat as if we already know each other for centuries. I was fortunate to see her pure heart, filled with nothing but love and positivity that despite living in a globalized era filled with globalized problems, Jesus still reigns as long as there are people like her who lives, breathes, and devotes her life for the glory of God.

Terimah Kasih Ahyi Eva!

  4. God really intertwines us in amazing, surprising ways. I am blessed to know both the blogger (recently) and the featured writer (years ago) in different places and circumstances. Now, how does one explain such encounters? See you both soon--in another place, another time on planet Earth.

    Interesting write-up!
